Since October 2023, and September 2024 Trek insurance has been made mandatory for the Gaumukh Tapovan Trek and Gaumukh Trek, respectively. Only if you have trek insurance will you be able to get your Gaumukh and Tapovan Permit.
Not any travel insurance is eligible. General travel insurance insures baggage loss, flight delays, etc., but it doesn’t cover adventure activities like trekking, hiking, and biking. Travel insurance that covers adventure activities is allowed. As Gaumukh Tapovan and Gaumukh are located at more than 4,000 meters above sea level Adventure Insurance that covers trekking up to 4,500 meters altitude is needed.
At HDT, we can help you get insurance for your adventures. For your Insurance needs, we have partnered with ASC360. Below are the steps to get insurance for the Gaumukh and Tapovan Trek.
