6 Feb, 2024: We all know due to late western disturbances whole of December and January were dry, and no snow was there on treks like Dayara Bugyal, Kedarkantha, and Kuari Pass.
Finally, a strong western disturbance during the last week of January brought snowfall in the whole Western Himalayas. With that, Dayara Bugyal also received heavy snowfall.
On Feb 5th, it was snowing in Raithal, and the plan to reach Gui Campsite got postponed. That day our trekkers explored raithal with our Guide.
The next day our trekkers, guide, base camp manager, and helper set out to Gui Campsite and opened up the trail.
Once they reached Gui, our Guide, Soby Negi, and Base Camp Manager, Veeru Rana, decided to open the trail till the Dayara summit so that the next day trekkers could make it to the summit. It took 4 hours to clear the trail. “I got excited to see this much snow. Opening up the trail was a bit challenging, but Veeru and I have done this a lot of times, and this time, we also did it.” – Said Soby Negi
The next day, trekkers made it to Dayara Top, and with that, our Guide also taught them how to walk on snow trails properly.
