Dayara Bugyal Trek is a perfect getaway from hustling cities to peaceful meadows. Located in the district of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, this is one of the most famous treks. On this trek, you can enjoy the high altitude alpine meadow with views of the Garhwal Himalayas. With the easy-to-moderate trek grade, it is suitable for both beginners and seasoned trekkers.

Ways to reach Dehradun
By Air
As many major cities have direct connectivity to Dehradun, a quick flight is an easy option. The journey begins at 6 am from Dehradun. Make sure to book the flight which reaches Dehradun on Day 0 or before 6 am on Day 1.
To reach the central city from Jolly Grant Airport –
- Airport buses that ply between Rishikesh to Dehradun via the airport are also a good option. They generally leave every 1.5 hours.
- Book a taxi from the pre-paid taxi counter at the airport (near the conveyor belt), or get one from outside the airport. They usually charge INR 1500 but don’t hesitate to bargain.
- Walk for 1.5 km from the airport towards the Dehradun-Rishikesh Highway. From there, catch a private or UTC Bus to ISBT Dehradun for just INR 40.
Considering the price might lean on the higher side for Dehradun, you can also book a flight to Delhi. From Delhi, these train options are best to reach Dehradun. Otherwise, you can also use the bus or taxi service.
- 12401 – Nanda Devi AC Superfast Express Timing – 23:35 – 5:45 am (Runs Daily)
Remember this train leaves from Hazrat Nizamuddin Rly St. To reach the railway station from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), you can book a direct taxi or metro.
Metro route – Take a metro from Terminal 2 (Delhi Express Line) to Dhaula Kaun. From Dhaula Kaun, walk a short distance to Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus and grab a metro to Hazrat Nizamuddin Rly Station.
- 22457 – Dehradun Vande Bharat Express Timing-17:50 – 22:35 (Runs on – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday)
This train leaves from Anand Vihar Terminal. The best option is to take a taxi from the airport directly to the Anand Vihar terminal.
Metro Route-
1. From the Delhi Airport Express Line(Orange line), take a metro going towards New Delhi.
2. Get off in New Delhi, switch to the Yellow Line take a metro going towards Huda City.
3. Deboard the train at Rajiv Chowk, switch to the Blue Line, and board the metro going towards Vaishali.
4. Deboard the train at Anand Vihar ISBT. The railway station is at walking distance of 350m from here.
By Train
The train offers you a cheaper way to reach your destination with the comfort of long berths to sleep. Depending on your location, book a train directly to Dehradun and reach by Day 0. So you have ample time if the train gets delayed.
You can also book a train ticket for Delhi. For Delhi, you will easily find a train as the capital of the country, the connectivity is vast. Instead of interchanging trains, it is advisable to book a ticket direct for Delhi. From here, you can book a taxi or ride by bus to reach Dehradun.

- From Kolkata: Kumbha Express runs on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- From Delhi: Vande Bharat Express from Anand Vihar leaves every day of the week except Thursday and takes only 6 hours.
By Road
Delhi to Dehradun
Dehradun is 248 km away from Delhi, with a travel time of 6-8 hours. Delhi has three significant bus stands – Kashmere Gate (ISBT), Anand Vihar, and Sarai Kale Khan. Most of the time, the bus to Dehradun leaves every half an hour. You can book tickets online via Redbus app.
How to reach Raithal
Dehradun to Raithal (Road Journey)
Raithal is approximately 183 away from Dehradun, so you can use the local bus service or book a taxi directly. Otherwise, first, reach Uttarkashi, then book a cab.
Board the bus for Uttarkashi from Dehradun Hill Station for around INR 350-400. The bus covers the 140 km long distance in 6 hours. You can prior book the online tickets from the Uttrakhand Transport Corporation portal. You can start your journey as early as 5:30 in the morning as the first bus leaves.
From Uttarkashi, take a taxi to Raithal, costing around INR 100-200.
Note: We also provide a transport facility from Dehradun to Raithal between 6 to 7 am. The pickup point is Prince Chowk, and trekkers have to pay an additional INR 1500.
Helicopter Journey (Dehradun – Chinyalisaur – Uttarkashi – Raithal)
You read it right; now you have a chance to ride a helicopter and enjoy the views of Doon Valley, Saraswati Ranges, Gangotri Ranges, and many more.

You can book the tickets online from their official website. Chopper takes off from Sahastradhara Helipad. The ride takes 35 minutes, and it costs you INR 3000 + GST. From Chinyalisur, you can hail a local taxi for Uttarkashi at INR 100 and Uttarkashi another Taxi to Raithal for INR 100-200.
Return Journey
Remember this is a hilly area so delays might happen due to various reasons. If your return tickets are from Dehradun then make sure to book them after 9 PM on our Day 4 of trek.
And if you are planning the return from Delhi then book the tickets late on day 5. Timings may vary with mode of transport. Calculate the travel time between two places according to your chosen mode of transport.
